Saint Louis Frontrunners is a non-competitive club for Gay, Lesbian, Bi-sexual, Transgender, and Straight-Allied (GLBTS) runners and walkers of all abilities. Membership in SLFR is open to all. The group meets at 9:00 a.m. on Saturdays and 6:00 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays in Forest Park at the Visitor and Education Center (formerly known as the Lindell Pavilion). We are inside during the winter and outside just east of the building during the summer. Special runs are held on the first Saturday of each month at different locations. The runs/walks cover varied distance, from one mile to four miles, to accommodate the interests of everyone. Afterwards, members with time, go out to eat at nearby restaurants. The Saint Louis Frontrunners club belongs to a network of International Frontrunner clubs. Members regularly visit other clubs and also participate in organized excursions to other cities. Frontrunners clubs around the world have borrowed their name from the title of Patricia Nell Warren's novel about gay runner training for the Olympics. Frontrunners share the commitment the author expresses to work to enhance the quality of our lives as gay people and as gay athletes.
